Fear of flying Testimonials

“It has been my pleasure to work with many brave people who have overcome their fear and gone on to be “courageous flyers”. I consider it a privilege and honor to have been a part of their success story”. Robin Fay-McNair

"Robin Fay-McNair made it possible for me to travel to Paris with my family. I had put off the trip for years and, thanks to Robin, I was able to overcome my fear of flying and enjoy a memorable time with family”. Helene (Teacher)

"Through Robin's insight, patience and knowledge of flight, I gained the courage and understanding to fly again."  Pete (Restaurant Manager)

"Before I found my courage I had to miss out on trips because I was afraid to fly. Now I've been to California and Mexico and I'm going to Hawaii soon”. Nicole (High school student)

“It had been 13 years without flying when I came to you and the group for help. This phobia had prevented me from attending significant family events and I was concerned that it would have a negative effect on both my personal relationship and professional career. For me, there was a great deal of guilt associated with my inability to visit an airport, let alone get on a plane and fly. All the family milestones, all the support I should have been able to provide, but couldn’t due to my inability to travel. The program and the counseling provided was life changing in many ways. I feel the personal counseling sessions with you provided the most significant opportunity for growth and personal introspection concerning the fear, the cause and its effect. It provided me with a process and tools to acknowledge and overcome the fear, and changes the little voice in our heads that often prevents us from living more dynamic and rewarding lives. In the several years since completing the course and the follow up sessions, I’ve logged over 20 trips, both domestic and international. While all the trips were enjoyable, the flights themselves offered some of the most memorable experiences:

  • The night flight to Anchorage and the Northern Light display all
    the way up the coast.
  • The lights of Las Vegas at midnight on final approach.
  • The amazing and spectacular sunset flight to Santorini Greece by small jet.

Thanks for all the help Robin. It’s been an exciting and memorable journey.” Chuck

That is just what Di did when she not only challenged her fear of flying but she and her husband started a new business importing textiles from the Mediterranean.  I am thrilled to pass on her story to you and their web address so that you can take advantage of their wonder products. “I had no fear of flying originally.  I'd been to Europe, Canada, Tahiti, no problem.  I was never afraid to fly until my Honey Moon trip to Bermuda.   That flight went thru a terrible hail, rain and wind storm, the worst storm in over 50 years the pilot said.  When it was at its worst, the pilot told us that he was going to "Try and land the plane as best as he could".   Obviously we made it onto the ground OK, but I've been deathly afraid of flying ever since.  We'd still go to Europe every other year but a voice in the back of my head wished that our plans would cancel for one reason or another.  "Can't we just drive somewhere instead?"  On each flight thereafter, I'd be thinking to myself that I was "meant to go" on that flight to Bermuda and since I didn't, it's only a matter of time now.  Needless to say, I love to travel but I hate flying with a passion.  I've tried every kind of remedy.  I've tried to "just relax", I'd tell myself that people travel all the time without problems, I've taken anti anxiety drugs, alcohol, and you name it.  My husband and I were going to go to France again and I was paranoid for 3 months before our departure.  I'd be creating disasters, when nothing negative was occurring. Unfortunately, I am my own worst enemy with my way of thinking.  I'd make my plane ride that much worse, and that of my husband's before we even boarded the plane!   During the flight, I was so tense, stressed and convinced that I was about to die in any minute, I almost started running up and down the aisle.  I said to him, "I'm gonna freak out! I'm gonna get up and start running!" I couldn't sit still!  I was trying to find where the "safest" place of the plane was! My poor husband said to me, "The only thing that would accomplish is getting us kicked off of the plane!" and of course, that's what I really wanted to have happen.  Then I'd be off!   I felt like I had to get off the plane, and of course, the plane can't just "pull over and let me out!" I knew that I needed help because my fear wasn't just going to go away.  It was in fact, getting worse and worse.  I looked into other "fear programs" but nothing seemed right for me.  Not only were they so expensive, but it didn't feel personalized to me.  I needed more than just a "self help" program; I needed someone who I could actually talk to and walk me thru my fears.
When I first got the CD  "Courage to Fly" I must say that I didn't have much hope for myself but I'd try it anyway , I had nothing to lose.  I put the CD on in my car and listened to it on my way to work, the store, the gym, where ever I'd go, I played it over and over and over. Almost until I memorized it! Also, in addition to the CD, I took advantage of another of Robin’s options at Courage to Fly - personnel one-on-one conversations!  Boy was that great! I can't begin to express just how wonderful and beneficial that option is for anyone who needs to voice their fears with a real person! To actually hear someone respond to my worries and concerns was so beneficial, more than anyone can imagine!  What the CD and personnel conversations did for me was helped me to change my way of thinking, before, during, and after a flight.  It gave me answers to my questions and new tactics for overcoming my fears.   I was ready to utilize my new knowledge and look forward to our travels! During our last flight to France, we were experiencing some big turbulence, & I used what I learned from Robin, and I was ok!  I was able to stop myself from my old thinking patterns and use what I learned and I did it! I actually enjoyed this flight!  It was more enjoyable for me and my husband. So now, anytime we have to board a plane, if my insecurities come up, I know what I need to do, what to listen to and who to turn to: Robin at "Courage to Fly" no doubt about it!  Thank you.  Thank you for everything...” Di L.
